Ichiban (adverb)

superlative marker

meaning: most

Formation

Subject = [Kurasu (no naka) de Yamada-san] ga ichiban atama ga ii

Examples

Kono naka de dono eiga ga ichiban omoshiroi desu ka? (Among these, which is the most interesting)

-> Kono Nihon no eiga deshoo (This Japanese movie, I guess)

Mazuko-san to Takeshi-san to Yamada-sa no naka de, dare ga ichiban (yoku) dekimasu ka? (Among Mr.Mazuko..... who is best(lit. can do best)?)

Nihon de ichiban kireini tokoro wa doko desu ka? (Where is the most scenic place in japan?)

Cannot be before noun ("ichiban sensei" as best teacher). Must be before adjectives(or adverbial forms of adjectives) so ichiban ii sensei. If the meaning is obvious, adverbial forms can be omitted (yoku[well, frequently] as seen in the examples)
